Ruben Amorim was suspended for 6 days by the Disciplinary Board. He will be out of the game with Rio Ave, scheduled for Wednesday. The Sporting coach was punished for statements after Sporting-FC Porto in October, where he was expelled for protests against the referee team. After the match, he pointed out the referee’s dual criteria. Sporting talks about “illegal and unfair deliberation” and will “appeal to TAD about it”.
At the time, the Disciplinary Board initiated an investigation process, which was converted into a disciplinary process on 9 January. The disciplinary hearing was scheduled for March 1, but at that time the suspension of procedural deadlines resulting from the State of Emergency was in effect. The suspension of procedural deadlines, which began on January 22, ended on April 6. The hearing was then held on April 21, and punishment is now known, the eve of the game in Vila do Conde.
“This is an unjust, disproportionate deliberation and exposes the Sports Justice to the obvious judgment: the statements of our coach, in the context in which they were given, are of no relevance when compared with other attitudes of other sports agents”, already considered the Sporting.
“Sports Justice thus exposes itself to the ridicule of those who do not seek the truth in lawsuits and, in an illegal interpretation of the regulations, intends to impose the law of the cork stopper on those who, precisely, limited themselves to referring to an injustice that the victimized and continues to victimize “, stresses the Leon club.
Sporting statement
Sporting CP – Futebol, SAD informs the following:
1. Six months after the date on which they were delivered, the Disciplinary Board (CD) decided to suspend Rúben Amorim because he expressed, on 10/17/2020, statements in which, commenting on his expulsion, he referred to duality of criteria used, for not having been equally expelled someone who was part of the opposing bank – FC Porto – and who had assumed behavior similar to what the CD now imputes to him;
2. Images about what happened are, fortunately, public knowledge. And it is possible to review them on the SPORT TV broadcast, from 46 minutes 59 seconds to 47 minutes and 32 seconds: https://files.fm/u/newkfkgbc.
3. The disclosure of this resolution coincides, certainly by chance, with the day on which Rúben Amorim made statements about the process that threatens to suspend it for a period of one to six years;
4. The decision now known unfairly punishes our coach for a period of six days, on the eve of the game against Rio Ave FC;
5. This is an unjust, disproportionate deliberation and exposes the Sports Justice to the obvious judgment: the statements of our coach, in the context in which they were delivered, have no relevance when compared with other attitudes of other sports agents;
6. Furthermore, it is important to emphasize that the instructor of the process proposed the archiving of the records, with an adequate reading of the statements, the context in which they were made and the regulations, a proposal ignored by the CD, which stubbornly intends to see in those statements an offense to the arbitration team;
7. The sports court is thus exposed to the ridicule of those who do not seek the truth in the proceedings and, in an illegal interpretation of the regulations, intends to impose the law of the cork stopper on those who, precisely, limited themselves to referring to an injustice that victimized him and continues to victimize him;
8. Sporting CP – Futebol, SAD will support coach Rúben Amorim in all initiatives against this illegal and unjust deliberation, namely in the appeal to be filed with TAD;
9. And everything will be done so that, in the future, Sports Justice will focus on the enormous problems that Portuguese football is going through. Better late than never.
Where one goes, they all go.
