Rubella vaccine reduces chances of severe COVID-19 | All About Coronavirus | Health

American scientists believe that people vaccinated against measles, rubella and mumps are less likely to get severe coronavirus.

As writes TASS, with reference to the press center of the American Society for Microbiology, experts conducted an immunological study and revealed an inverse relationship between the level of antibodies to the mumps virus and the severity of COVID-19.

The study involved 80 volunteers who received the vaccine and subsequently contracted the coronavirus. They took blood from the subjects and found that the more antibodies to the mumps virus were present in the body of COVID-19 carriers, the less symptoms of the disease manifested themselves.

Previously, scientists hoped that the tuberculosis vaccine (BCG) could reduce the likelihood of a severe course of coronavirus, but these assumptions did not come true.
