RTX awarded $117.5 million by US Army for advanced thermal imaging cameras

RTX (formerly Raytheon Technologies) will supply thermal imaging cameras to the US Army. An American defense contractor has entered into an agreement with the US Department of Defense.

What is known

The US Army wants to get the third generation FLIR B-Kit thermal imagers. Production of thermal imaging cameras will begin before the end of this year. Deliveries will continue until 2027. The deal amounted to $117.5 million.

The third generation FLIR B-Kit is an advanced thermal imaging camera designed for reconnaissance and surveillance. The US Army needs new solutions for the fire control system in the upgraded M1 Abrams tanks. The FLIR B-Kit can also be used on other armored vehicles.
