RTX 4070 is going to be another mess! 3 different versions!

Well, after the confusion of the two versions of the RTX 4080, which eventually transformed the card with 12GB of memory into an RTX 4070 Ti, behold, NVIDIA is trying to put its strategy into practice again, by launching 3 versions of the RTX 4070 , all of them with different memory capacities. Another shot in the foot?

RTX 4070 is going to be another mess! 3 different versions!

Therefore, according to a recent Gigabyte model register, the RTX 4070 will hit the market with versions with 10GB, 12GB and 16GB of VRAM memory. Of course, this list may not be the final one, such was the impact of the RTX 4080 story on NVIDIA’s way of doing things.

In addition, we still don’t know if the difference is just in the amount of memory, or if the GPU is also more limited in the 10GB and 12GB versions. But… This is very likely to be the case! After all, the version of RTX 4080 with 12GB of memory had a completely different GPU, and in fact, a performance level 10~20% lower than the RTX 4080 with 16GB of GDDR6X VRAM memory.

Will NVIDIA repeat the joke? Will the market accept 3 versions of the same graphics card? All with the exact same name, but different levels of performance?

It is worth noting that this has happened several times in history! As is the case with the GTX 1060 with 3GB and 6GB, and curiously, the many versions of the current RTX 3060. In case you didn’t know, in the case of the RTX 30 generation card, they all have different performance levels.

First of all, you, the reader, as a consumer, what do you think about all this? A strategy that makes sense? Share your opinion with us in the comments box below.
