The RTV subscription is currently a very hot topic in Poland. Recently, we learned about the next planned increases. What will it be like in 2021? We will pay almost PLN 20 more next year for legally watching TV and listening to the radio. The annual fee will increase from PLN 245.15 to PLN 264.60 for a radio and TV set. The RTV subscription rates paid monthly or semi-annually will also increase. And most importantly, there are no plans to liquidate these fees. Here are the details!
The radio and TV subscription is a controversial topic in Poland for many reasons
Radio and TV subscription it is indeed quite an archaic form of financing public media. Audiences do not want to pay it because they usually already pay other fees for television. They are charged with the cost of using cable or satellite platforms. Others, for purely ideological reasons, do not want to give money to TV or radiowhich is biased and constitutes the mouthpiece of the ruling power. Others are outraged by the gigantic salaries paid to employees of public media – as reported recently, the leaders of “Wiadomości” earn up to 40,000. PLN per month.
Radio and TV subscription – since when do fees increase?
Either way, so far there is no indication that the subscription will be canceled. Moreover, the fees have been frozen for several years are expected to increase from January 2021. In any case, this is what the National Broadcasting Council states on its website. How will they take shape then? subscription prices compared to those in force today?

RTV subscription – where and when should the receiver be registered?
The owner of the radio or TV set is obliged to register the receiver in any post office within 14 days of purchase. It can also be done online: via Centrum Usług Finansowej PP SA. The state has long announced the prosecution of those who evade subscription payments. And here are two types of debtors: those who have registered equipment, but stopped paying, and those who have not registered RTV equipment at all.

The former have it worse, because they don’t have to prove anything. They may not even use the radio and TV for years, and they are still charged tax fees and interestand, in the case of reminders, also their costs. Of course, you can deregister the equipment, but first you have to settle the arrears.

Radio and TV subscription – who carries out the checks and how many fines are there?
The second group has to prove that they have RTV equipment. The inspections are carried out by Poczta Polska employees. They must show authorization and identify themselves.
If an unregistered receiver is found, an administrative decision with a registration order is issued and, on a good day, 30 times the monthly subscription fee is charged.
This gives the amount of almost PLN 700. If the recipient does not pay it, he should take into account bailiff enforcement.

Those who have not registered the device may not let the controllers enter the home, and the antenna by the window is not proof of ownership. The inspectors are not allowed to act as deception, e.g. by introducing themselves as postmen or salesmen offering cable TV, in order to get to the apartment. Worse, when they return with a court decision to search and with the police or a tax office employee.
