RTL ends current form Eigen Huis & Tuin, future program uncertain | NOW

The future of Own House & Garden is uncertain. RTL will stop broadcasting the gig program in its current form from June and is still looking for a new way to offer the program, according to program director Peter van der Vorst.

RTL has decided to extend the weekday programming from the eve to the weekend, as a result of which Edition NL now also broadcasts on Saturdays and Sundays around 6 p.m. That means that Own House & Garden must make way.

Van der Vorst describes the gig program that has been on Dutch television for 27 years as an “expensive program to produce”. “That’s why we choose to Edition NL from September to Saturday and Sunday. This can be done with a limited investment. An additional advantage is that our eve is then horizontally programmed seven days a week, “said the program director.

The future of Own House & Garden is therefore uncertain, but the program is not going off the pipe. “Of course we don’t say goodbye to the brand Own House & Garden. In the future, the TV program will get a nice new place at RTL 4 in a different form and at a lower frequency, so that fans will not miss their beloved guide in the field of living and gardening. “

The last new episode of the program presented by Evelyn Struik with handyman Thomas Verhoef and gardener Tom Groot will be broadcast on June 6. Compilations of the program can be seen until August.
