Marco Mengoni is the winner of Rtl 102.5 Power Hits Estate. It was not exactly a surprise: since the race to establish the most beloved catchphrase of the summer began – decreed with a voting system that combines the number of radio passages of a song and the vote of listeners, expressed online – the singer-songwriter (58 platinum records, sold out tour, 650 million views for his videos) was in the lead for nine out of ten weeks (only the first one triumphed by Takagi and Ketra with Giusy Ferreri). «But tonight», therefore, for Rtl 102.5 is the catchphrase of catchphrases, the soundtrack of a summer that knows a little more hope, of recovery. The feeling, basically, was this also yesterday at the Verona Arena, where practically all the protagonists of Italian music gathered – finally in front of an audience (6 thousand people spaced out and equipped with green passes). For each of them, finding themselves singing in front of an audience had the thrill of the first times. And even in the cautious hugs between colleagues, behind the scenes, one could read the feeling of those who were happy to see each other again in a sort of long-awaited semi-normality.

Yes, because at the Arena (the show, conducted by the speakers of Rtl 102.5 with Massimo Giletti, also went live in radiovision as well as on SkyUno and Tv8) sang and danced (for some performances the corps de ballet was provided, a real luxury in the era of the pandemic), always in safety, as the organization rightly points out. But many. Even among the catchphrases there are the spearheads, and certainly the trio of «Mille» – Orietta Berti, Fedez and Achille Lauro – was among those who could most undermine Mengoni’s victory. Played everywhere in recent weeks, it won the Fimi prize and made the Arena resonate with joy, as happened with Emma and Loredana Berté (“What an incredible dream”), Alessandra Amoroso (“Big smile”) or J-Ax and Jake The Fury. Among the many artists who did not miss the event, even Mahmood (sang “Klan”), at his first appearance after the disastrous fire that, just a few days ago, in Milan, charred his house.

He too, who could have being a justified absentee, he didn’t want to miss yesterday’s party, opened by Duran Duran who presented their single, «Anniversary» as a world premiere. They received the Power History award, while Luciano Ligabue, to the applause of the six thousand, exploded at the moment of “Happy Hour”, won the Platinum Award. A recognition – for her career – also for Ornella Vanoni, who performed with Colapesce and Dimartino (winners of the Siae prize). And in the light version, for her 25-year career, an award went to Carmen Consoli.
