A government spokesman said that the lease with the operator of the Fringe Club has been renewed for one year, effective from this month. In making the decision, the Government has considered the current operating conditions of the Fringe Club and the need to provide space and facilities for small and medium arts groups.
With regard to the arrangements for the current Fringe Club premises after the lease expires next year, the Government will solicit proposals in the middle of this year to identify the most suitable non-profit-making operator to operate the premises. At that time, all non-profit-making operators, including current operators, can submit proposals. The Government will announce the details of the RFP at a later date.
