According to RSV manager Patrick Hinze, the game could have gone the other way, but taking advantage of chances in the last home game was still the big gap in the second half of the season.

RSV Eintracht 1949 – Hansa Rostock II 1: 5 (0: 1). Goals: 0: 1 Mahir Huber (40th), 0: 2 Lucas-Levi Juhrmann (58th), 1: 2 Tonio Schüttler (75th), 1: 3 Oliver Zajac (83rd), 1: 4 Mike Bachmann ( 86.), 1: 5 Sascha Schuenemann (90.). Spectators: 219. It was supposed to be a worthy end to the home game for the RSV kickers, but it was the biggest failure of the season. According to Patrick Hinze, the three points for Rostock’s FC Hansa reserves are “deserved”, but “not that high”. According to Hinze, RSV were able to record a notable increase in chances in the first half, but they could not turn into goals. The problem of the second half of the season, the exploitation of opportunities, was shown in all its clarity in the first half. Coach Kevin Rodewald’s Rostockers, on the other hand, took advantage of one of the many opportunities and managed to take the lead just before half-time (40th).

After the change of sides, Hinze saw a similar picture. The RSV went high and the Rostock team tried to boost the score with quick switching moments. The guests managed to do it in the 58th minute, taking them 2-0 up. Tonio Schüttler, who had just entered as a substitute, gave hope to the 219 spectators in the 75th minute, before Rostock scored three goals in seven minutes for the knockout shortly thereafter. “In the last ten minutes we no longer had to hope that the players would go back 60 meters.”
Debut in Oberliga for Michael Schmidt
All in all, Hinze “obviously imagined a different conclusion”. Above all, it was particularly annoying that Rostock “wasn’t really better, but just used our mistakes more consistently.” Despite the bitter defeat, there was a special moment in the game. Longtime player, RSV manager and kit manager Michael Schmidt was cleared to make his Oberliga debut in the 87th minute. “I wanted to dedicate this to him as a thank you for his many years of working at the club,” said Hinze. This should make Schmidt the only one in RSV to have fond memories of this day.
