If it hadn’t been an extremely intense evening on Saturday, the applause in the Musikverein would probably have reached epic proportions. In any case, the euphoria over an excellent 5th symphony by Anton Bruckner also had something demonstratively encouraging about it. The orchestra should now finally disappear as part of a savings plan (or at least from the ORF budget).
