Fashion label’s site crashes after Meghan Markle’s appearance

Meghan Markle (41) attracted attention at the Invictus Games in Düsseldorf with short linen pants. She bought it for 165 euros from Staud, a fashion label from her hometown of Los Angeles. She paired it with a cardigan from J.Crew. The website of that American brand, where the item is sold for 145 euros, crashed immediately after the first images of Markle were published.

The Invictus Games are a sports competition for injured soldiers, the driving force behind which is British Prince Harry (39). The first edition took place in London in 2014, the sixth now in Düsseldorf. During their stay in the German city, the Hollywood couple does not seem to have any intention of giving up their royal comfort. They stay in a luxurious suite at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, where an overnight stay costs $2,500 (2,326 euros).

Albert and Charlène form ‘one front’

The new school year also started this week in Monaco. The children of Prince Albert and Princess Charlène, the twins Jacques and Gabriella (8), started in the third grade. For the first time they are not in the same class, Charlène said in a newspaper interview. “This is a big step for them, and it seems right to me.”

The princely palace in Monaco published a photo of Albert and Charlène with their offspring on the first day of school. Royalty watchers interpret the post as an action by the couple to radiate unity, after rumors resurfaced that they are living separately. Media wrote that she lives in Switzerland and only sees him “by appointment”. The much-discussed couple has recently done their best to refute this. Charlène appeared in public with Albert seven times in nine days.

Charlène also talked about the character of her daughter and son: “Gabriella is quite spontaneous and has self-confidence. Jacques is extremely reserved but very attentive. They complement each other. They are still young and continue to develop every day.”

About her children’s favorite sports, Charlène said that she and her husband Albert think it is important that they can swim so that they are not afraid of the water. Gabriella also likes hip-hop dance, Jacques practices taekwondo. “It’s about giving them a good education, self-confidence and a happy childhood.”

But Charlène does not want to push her children towards competitive sports. She was a competitive swimmer herself who participated in the Summer Olympics on behalf of South Africa. Before his accession to the throne in 2005, Prince Albert represented his country five times (1988 to 2002) at the Winter Olympics as a bobsledder.

Mette-Marit on sick leave for two weeks

Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit (50) has been prescribed two weeks of sick leave by her doctor. As a result, she was unable to travel to Stockholm for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the reign of Swedish King Carl Gustaf.

She also has to cancel several appointments in her home country. For example, she would travel through the Norwegian province of Vestland for three days at the end of this month. Her husband Crown Prince Haakon (50) will have to go alone.

The royal palace in Oslo has not clarified why Mette-Marit has to take it easy. She was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis in 2018: a chronic lung disease. Since then, she has had to cancel official activities several times.

The wedding party takes place in Geiranger. That city in western Norway is known for its spectacular fjord and impressive mountains. “The Geirangerfjord is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and represents the rich culture and natural beauty of Norway,” Märtha Louise explains the choice of location.

It will be her second marriage. She was previously married to writer and artist Ari Behn, with whom she has three daughters. Behn took her own life at Christmas 2019. Shortly before, Märtha Louise had met shaman Durek Verrett. They got engaged in 2022. Their relationship has been much discussed because he practices dangerous spiritual practices and also has a criminal record in the United States.

On a survival trip with Catherine and William

British Prince William and his wife Catherine (both 41) visited a school in the town of Madley where students receive lessons in nature. The children take courses on environmental awareness, nature conservation and forest management. During practical lessons they learn to make camps and light fires to cook.

During their visit, William and Catherine went on a survival trip. They helped prepare food around a glowing campfire and cut branches to make a camp.
