Royalty funds will be used to improve streets, educate and deal with emergencies, among other important initiatives – 2024-09-06 23:45:38

The City Council approved the budget allocation that will allow the allocation of more than 928 million pesos from this tax to mining.

The Municipal Council recently approved the budget distribution of more than 928 million pesos from the Mining Royalty, a significant injection of resources that will be delivered to the Municipality of Rancagua for its free disposal.

These funds can be invested according to the needs of the city in the different territories, with constant monitoring of their allocation and use.

The mayor of Rancagua, Emerson Avendaño, stressed that “this budget distribution will allow us to inject resources into different areas, for example, it will allow us to have a truck for pruning and working at height, a machine that the municipality does not currently have; and we will also be able to have a self-mixing truck to improve the condition of the streets.”

“In addition, a grant will be provided to the Education Division of the Municipal Corporation for the purchase of basic supplies and minor infrastructure repairs. In addition, funds will be allocated to purchase safety equipment for the patrol cars of the Public Safety Department; funds will be injected into an Emergency Fund to deal with various contingencies caused by the weather, floods or fires, among other important initiatives,” said the mayor of Rancagua.

Following approval by the city council, the funds will be distributed as follows:

$290 million for the purchase of two trucks for Strategic Operations of the Environmental Management Directorate (DGA): a man-lift truck for pruning, repairs and work at height, and a self-mixing truck to improve the condition of the streets by carrying out concrete repairs in the same affected area.

$280 million in subsidies for the Municipal Corporation’s Education Division, with the aim of covering urgent needs in educational establishments, such as the purchase of basic supplies and the carrying out of minor infrastructure repairs.

$88 million for the acquisition of municipal operation vehicles: two ¾ double-cab trucks for the field teams of the Traffic Department, destined for the marking of streets and the maintenance and repair of traffic signs. In addition, a van-type vehicle will be added to transport the social and multi-sector teams of the Community Development Department (DIDECO) to different sectors of Rancagua.

$70 million for the Development and Innovation Corporation, which will be used to purchase security equipment for the Public Safety Department’s patrol cars, in order to improve the standard of patrolling and carry out more effective oversight actions with municipal personnel.

$70 million will be allocated to an Emergency Fund to deal with various contingencies in the city, such as adverse weather conditions, floods or fires.

$60 million to create a supply of elements for the conservation, improvement and recovery of public spaces, such as games, benches, flower pots and fences, which will provide greater security to neighborhoods through the recovery of degraded spaces and useless garbage dumps, transforming them into places for community meeting and development.

$50 million to create a demolition fund, primarily targeting abandoned and dilapidated buildings in the city center that are clearly in danger of collapse and that must be demolished by court order.

$20 million for the subsidy to the Municipal Corporation’s Health Department, with the purpose of supporting the transfer of mammography equipment currently installed in the former Cesfam 2, a facility that is no longer in use.
