ROYALS. Wedding bells are ringing in France and what’s up…

Romance in France, Kate Middleton and Prince William who do not want to stand out, Harry and Meghan who, according to some, stand out too much on a magazine cover and a painful affair in the Netherlands. Everything about the recent ins and outs in royal circles listed for you.

There has been married in royal circles: James MiddletonKate and Pippa Middleton’s brother, married his Frenchwoman Alizée Thevenet last weekend. The ceremony took place in southern France. “It was a very beautiful and family ceremony,” said François Arizzi, mayor of the idyllic hilltop village of Bormes-les-Mimosas. He said to Var Matin, a local medium, which prins William on Kate Middleton were there, but absolutely didn’t want to steal the show. He reportedly wore a beige suit, Middleton a long, light green dress. Arizzi said he was able to have a nice conversation with the future king in his poor English. James Middleton himself posted a snapshot of his wedding day on Instagram, and one of the dogs was also happy to be there …

Thanks to Queen Elizabeth II Never-before-seen images of several royals have surfaced this week. After all, she showed a glimpse of her collection of home videos to reveal precious moments between Prince Philip, Prince Charles, Princess Anne and Prince Edward. The images from the private collection show Prince Philip racing on a tricycle with the young Prince Charles and Princess Anne, while a young Elizabeth runs after it and tries to keep up. Other fragments show Philip rowing on a lake with Prince Edward. The clips are part of the upcoming BBC documentary Prince Philip: the royal family remembers, which celebrates the life of the Duke of Edinburgh. It will be broadcast on BBC One on September 22.

The latest image of Prince Harry on Meghan Markle is absolutely not to my liking. The couple is on the cover of Time magazine and, according to many, looks very and unnaturally processed. If you look closely, you will notice a yellow stripe on the prince’s right cheek, perhaps a result of digital erasing or a color correction. A lot is also said about the pose of the couple. Meghan Markle is in the foreground with lavishly styled hair, while the Prince seems to be hiding behind it a bit. This gives him the comparison with a hairdresser who explains to a customer in the mirror how the haircut came about. It’s also not clear whether Harry is sitting down, standing up or leaning slightly so as not to look much bigger than his wife. It is clear according to many social media users: it all looks a bit clumsy.

A record price has been paid in Britain this week for a fine Cartier bracelet with pearl and diamonds from princess Margaret, who lived from 1930 to 2002. She wore the accessory, among other things, in the portrait that was made on her nineteenth birthday. Now the piece has been auctioned in London for around £400,000. That corresponds to a sloppy 456,000 euros, an amount for which you already have a real villa in many Flemish villages. It was estimated that Queen Elizabeth II’s jewel would fetch her younger sister between £30,000 and £40,000, but that it would be achieved tenfold was beyond expectations. It is not known who the new owner of the bracelet is, who also receives a certificate as proof of authenticity.

Next Tuesday, September 21, it’s Prince’s Day in the Netherlands, but the festivities were pushed back a bit more. At the beginning of this week it was announced that there will be no balcony scene at Noordeinde Palace this year either. Last year were King Willem Alexander on Queen Maxima not even trying to wave at their fans. The reason is still the same: the ongoing corona pandemic. It is the second time in 46 years that the tradition is being scrapped. The imposing glass carriage will also not be released in 2021. King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima will be dropped off by car at the Grote Kerk in the city. And the knight’s hall, where the speech from the throne is delivered in normal times, remains closed. People are recommended to follow the ceremonies in The Hague at home via television.

There is literally something going on with the Dutch Queen. She hurt her right hand last summer. It is not clear what exactly she has been up to, but the body part has been splinted. In a short reaction during a visit in Deventer, she told a reporter who was present that she had an “accident” and it is broken, while she initially thought not. Now she has to “just give the hand some rest”. She thanked the man in advance for his concern.
