Trooping the Color: The Queen smiles during the Red Arrows flight
Today is the official birthday of the Queen and, for the second year in a row, the celebrations will be much smaller than usual. Trooping the Color will see a reduced parade on the grounds of Windsor Castle, rather than central London, led by the Scots Guards. Last year the event was canceled due to a pandemic with a ceremonial tribute performed in Windsor by the Welsh Guard and the Household Division band.
Usually the second weekend of June is marked by a large military parade near Buckingham Palace, attended by the entire Royal Family, who are famous for appearing on the balcony.
The parade features more than 1,400 soldiers, 200 horses, and 400 musicians walking down The Mall to Horse Guards Parade.
While another year without these big celebrations will be a disappointment for some, the Duchess of Cambridge has never been able to enjoy it as much as others.
This is because Kate is allergic to horses, according to the Daily Mail.

She reportedly once said this to Australian author Kathy Lette at a society polo match, after she was spotted watching from a small tent in the corner of the field.
This means that the two hundred horses participating in the queen’s birthday parade can cause an unpleasant allergic reaction for the duchess.
During the 2011 Trooping the Color, she was photographed on the balcony of Buckingham Palace with her hands cupped over her face in what could have been a sneeze.
What’s more, Kate often rides in a horse-drawn carriage with Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, which means getting pretty close to the horses.

If Kate is allergic to horses, Trooping the Color will not be the only time she will have problems as a member of the Royal Family.
Royals are associated with the equestrian world, often riding horses, sitting in horse-drawn carriages, attending races, or playing polo.
The Queen, Princess Anne and Zara Tindall love to ride horses, while Prince Philip and Lady Louise Windsor enjoy the sport of driving a carriage.
Prince Charles, Prince William, and Prince Harry have enjoyed playing polo throughout the years.

Royals frequently attend events such as Royal Ascot, Cheltenham Festival, and Royal Windsor Horse Show, as well as various polo matches.
They also have strong connections to the military, which often means that horses will be present at official events.
For Kate, there should be no escape from the myriad of events involving the animal.
Kate reportedly revealed her allergy to Ms. Lette when she was sitting alone at a polo match in 2008 when Kate and William were dating.
Mrs. Lette asked, “Why don’t you come and join the rest of the party?” referring to the reception of the campaign in the tent next door.
Kate apparently responded, “I have to pay attention to every second. I will discuss the game in detail later.
The writer said, “You can’t have a lot of fun here. Why don’t you play polo yourself?
Kate later confessed, “I’m allergic to horses.”
The only royal who can share Kate’s half-hearted feelings about horses was perhaps Princess Diana, who was reportedly afraid of animals.
However, he took riding lessons to try to fit in with the rest of the family, although he ended up having an affair with his riding instructor, Major James Hewitt.
