Meghan and Harry signed a multi-million pound deal with the music streaming site and released a standalone episode last Christmas. The Holiday Special featured personal anecdotes from a number of high profile guests including Sir Elton John, James Cordon and Naomi Osaka.
Their son Archie also made a surprise appearance at the end of the 34-minute episode.
But, Meghan and Harry’s audio debut left a lot of people disappointed, including royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams, who called it “straightforward”.
The royal expert also claimed the couple were using “alert language” and said they were not targeting a British audience.
He told Express.co.uk: “I think what they will do for Spotify will be in-depth interviews.
“The first episode wasn’t fancy and I didn’t think about it.
“It’s fine to talk about love conquering all, or words to that effect.
“It was in plain language and it wasn’t aimed at the UK market.”
Mr Fitzwilliams also noted the Duke and Duchess’s enormous global reach, but suggested they may have undersold their abilities.
He added: “It was aimed at America and the definite international appeal that they have.
“This appeal is enormous, as well as the potential for its use.
“But I didn’t think the podcast was worthy of their talents. They didn’t have interviews. ”
The podcast deal with Spotify is created in partnership with Archewell Audio – a branch of the Meghan and Harry Charitable Foundation.
Spotify says the program aims to produce content that “uplifts and entertains audiences around the world and presents diverse perspectives and voices.”

“We were curious to hear what they were thinking about when they had a moment to themselves, without navigating the sometimes awkward dance of a video chat, which means no one has to say, ‘Wait, you guys. are muted, “over and over again, which is probably one of the defining phrases of 2020.”
At the end of the podcast, their son Archie made an appearance on the microphone, Harry telling his son, “You can talk to it.”
Meghan then asks the tot “is it fun?”, To which he replies “fun!”.
