Royal pardon for 1518 prisoners, including 17 convicted of terrorism

On the occasion of Eid al-Fitr this year, King Mohammed VI pardoned a group of people, including detainees and those on release, who were sentenced by the various courts of the Kingdom, numbering 1,518 people.

The following is the text of the communication issued by the Ministry of Justice in this regard:

“On the occasion of Eid al-Fitr for this year 1444 AH 2023 AD, His Majesty the King, may God perpetuate his glory and grant him victory, issued, may God preserve him, his sublime and obedient order to pardon a group of people, including those detained and those in a state of release, who were sentenced by the various courts of the honorable Kingdom and they number 1518 people, and they are as follows:

The beneficiaries of the Royal High Pardon who are in a state of detention, numbering 1,270 inmates, are as follows:

Pardoning the remainder of a sentence of imprisonment or imprisonment for the benefit of: 411 inmates

Reducing imprisonment or imprisonment for the benefit of: 858 inmates

Conversion of life imprisonment to fixed prison for the benefit of: 01, one inmate

The beneficiaries of the royal high pardon, who are in a state of release, number 231, distributed as follows:

Amnesty from the prison sentence or the remainder of it for the benefit of: 61 persons

Pardoning the prison sentence while keeping the fine for: 08 people

Amnesty of fines for the benefit of: 156 people

Amnesty of imprisonment and fines for: 04 persons

Pardon from the fine and the remainder of the prison sentence for the benefit of: 02 two persons, total: 1501

On this auspicious occasion, His Majesty demanded that victory and empowerment last for him except that his generous Mawlawi pardon a group of those convicted in cases of extremism and terrorism, after they officially declared their attachment to the nation’s constants and sanctities and to national institutions, and after reviewing their positions and intellectual orientations, and their renunciation of extremism and terrorism, numbering 17 people, as follows. the next:

Pardoning the rest of the custodial sentence for: 05 inmates

Forgiveness of the remainder of the custodial sentence and the fine for: 05 inmates

Reducing the penalty of deprivation of liberty for the benefit of: 06 inmates

– Amnesty from the fine for: 01 one convict

The grand total: 1518
