Royalty Lizzie Cundy (55), once a good friend of Meghan Markle (42), is not afraid to talk about her relationship with the Duchess of Sussex. In conversation with ‘The Mirror’, the British socialite opens up about her relationship with the wife of Prince Harry (38) and the feud in which the Sussexes got involved with David (48) and Victoria (49) Beckham.
Lizzie Cundy argues that Meghan Markle has cut ties with numerous friends since joining the royal family. The most notable split, however, is with David and Victoria Beckham. According to Cundy, Markle “manipulated” her husband into believing that the Beckhams were leaking sensitive information about them to the press. “Meghan claims Victoria leaked stories,” says the British socialite. She strongly contradicts this claim, however.
Meghan’s former girlfriend cites a specific instance where Meghan was particularly excited to see Victoria Beckham at an event. “She exclaimed, ‘Oh my God, that’s Victoria Beckham!’ It was striking and I thought, ‘You have to restrain yourself a bit.’ She was clearly a big fan.”
The two became friends, but soon media reports of their activities began to appear. “When she came to London, Meghan told Victoria where she would be. But those locations subsequently appeared in the press. And now Harry apparently listened to Meghan claim that Victoria told the press where Meghan was supposed to be.”

Take distance
Lizzie Cundy wants to defend the Beckhams. She argues that they are not the type of people who would leak stories to the press. “Victoria and David are real family people,” she emphasizes. “Victoria doesn’t need to leak stories, she doesn’t need to. I think Victoria and David have slowly distanced themselves from them, as have many other friends who attended Harry and Meghan’s wedding. But Victoria certainly hasn’t leaked any stories.”
This isn’t the first time Cundy has criticized Meghan Markle. She has previously suggested that Meghan had the potential to follow in Princess Diana’s footsteps, but has let that opportunity slip. “Meghan was not right for the job. We all saw that coming,” says the socialite. “She didn’t want to take on the heavy lifting, like opening hospitals. The duties of the royals are not easy and far from glamorous.”
The television personality ended with a clear comment about Meghan’s alleged aspirations: “I think Meghan thought she would be the star of the show. But that role was always reserved for Princess Kate.”
