In the past year, members of the royal families traditionally appeared in public a lot and, of course, there were some embarrassing situations, which we will talk about today.
Meghan Markle and gold dress
The Duchess of Sussex gave many reasons to talk about herself in 2023. But the public remembers a few special moments related to her outfits or actions. At the Women of Vision Awards, where she was presented with an award for her global advocacy for the empowerment of women and girls, the Duchess wore a gold Johanna Ortiz strapless midi dress with a slit at the front and a small diamond cutout at the neckline. Megan didn’t take into account that her tan and swimsuit marks would be too noticeable in the spotlight.

For the second time, the Duchess of Sussex was embarrassed at an event dedicated to Veterans Day in the United States. Apparently, out of old habit, Meghan wore a poppy brooch on her jacket on this day, but did not take into account that a red poppy is a sign of respect on Remembrance Day, but this means nothing for Veterans Day in the United States. Some veterans were reported to be furious at the blatant disrespect.
Princess Marie-Chantal and her order
Greek Princess Marie-Chantal was embarrassed at a reception of the Danish royal family, which was organized in honor of the 18th birthday of Prince Christian of Denmark. The lady arrived at Christiansborg Palace in a powder pink Mary Katrantzou dress with pleats at the hem and a silver tiara from Queen Sofia of Greece. The princess also wore the Order of Saints Olga and Sophia with a dark blue sash, which she hung on her left shoulder instead of her right, thus breaking a long-standing tradition. Later, the princess noticed that she had put on the order incorrectly and moved the belt to her right shoulder.
King Charles III Nearly Falls During a Visit to Kenya
The monarch visited Kenya with his wife Queen Camilla in the fall. Arriving at the Commonwealth War Graves Commission cemetery in Nairobi, Charles was being led from one artificial grass path to another when the monarch nearly fell when he tripped over a roll of artificial grass. For a moment, the king even lost his balance, and his wife Camilla immediately came to her senses to help him. Fortunately, there was no fall; King Charles recovered and, putting on sunglasses, continued his route.

But during a visit to France in September, Queen Camilla experienced a slight embarrassment. As 76-year-old Camilla walked down the plane in a pink Fiona Clare coat dress and Philip Treacy hat, a strong wind blew and almost tore the accessory from Her Majesty’s head. Fortunately, the queen quickly regained her bearings and held her hat with her hand. And then she had to do the same all the way, since the windy weather did not go away.
