Royal Family Christmas Tradition: Queen Elizabeth II’s Festive Photo with Family at Windsor Castle, 1965

Members of the British royal family many years ago introduced the tradition of presenting a festive photo in the run-up to Christmas.

Today we remember one of the postcards, which was presented on this day – December 19, 1965 Queen Elizabeth II and her family.

The photo was taken on the grounds of Windsor Castle. The photo shows Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth II with their children – 17-year-old Prince Charles, 15-year-old Princess Anne, 5-year-old Prince Andrew and one-year-old Prince Edward, who is in a stroller.

Let’s remember that we recently showed what Queen Elizabeth II looked like in one of her Christmas cards.

And King Charles III and Queen Camilla released their 2023 card, choosing a photo taken during their coronation in May.
