This made it the first duo ever to dive under four minutes (60 kilometers per hour on average). They were also three seconds faster than the number two.

sport">In the final, Bangma had to deal with the British duo Stephen Bate/Adam Duggleby. Bate became Olympic champion in Rio de Janeiro, but now had to bow his head. Bate and his pilot were even doubled by Bangma and Bos.

sport">It is Bangma’s second time that he has been awarded a Paralympic title. Five years ago he was the best in the one kilometer pursuit. At the time, Teun Mulder was his pilot.

In the women’s pursuit, Alyda Norbruis and Caroline Groot also did not end up on the podium in the three-kilometer pursuit.
