Roy ‘Chubby’ Brown has last show withdrawn due to political correctness gone mad | UK

The 76-year-old comic, known for his profanity and rude linings, was due to appear at Sheffield Town Hall early next year. The show had been postponed due to the pandemic. But the councilors withdrew after townspeople wrote to them urging them to reconsider their decision.

Sheffield City Trust Managing Director Andrew Snelling said: “As our entertainment venues reopen following lockdown restrictions, we have revised our events schedule.

“We have decided to remove comedian Roy Chubby Brown’s rescheduled show at Sheffield Town Hall on January 29, 2022.

“We do not believe this show reflects the values of Sheffield City Trust, in particular our ambition that our places of leisure, culture and entertainment are inclusive for all in Sheffield.

“Those who have already purchased tickets will receive a full refund.

“We understand that some people will be disappointed with our decision, but we must live up to the standards and values that we promote and expect at our sites. “

Councilor Terry Fox, Head of Sheffield City Council, added: “Council wholeheartedly supports Sheffield City Trust’s decision to remove the booking for Roy Chubby Brown’s January show.

“Sheffield is a city of sanctuary, with diverse communities and the content of this show is unlikely to reflect Sheffield’s inclusive values.”

Sheffield isn’t the first city to cancel one of Brown’s shows. Several towns and cities across the UK have canceled the comedian, including Middleton and Swansea last year.

Brown began his career in the early 1970s after appearing on the talent show New Faces.

He was not allowed to perform on Opportunity Knocks after uttering the word “ar * e” in his interview.
