That’s what Roy Eilertsen says to VG. On Thursday morning, he went for a walk with his one-year-old son in Nordre Land in Innlandet.
During the trip, he sees something that may resemble an animal hanging further along the road. At first he thought it was just a cat, but when he got closer he met a sight that shocked him.
There was a dead fox with a party hat hanging on a plank.
– It’s grotesque. I have no words for such an act. The people behind this must have zero respect for animals. This does not belong anywhere, says Eilertsen.
It was Oppland Arbeiderblad who mentioned the matter first.
Birthday celebration
Right next to the fox was another plank with a name and age on it. Eilertsen believes the stunt was a kind of birthday celebration.
– I would guess that the person whose birthday was not aware of the stunt. It’s hardly a good birthday present for him.
Eilertsen took several photos of the fox, before calling both the police and the municipality. When both had been notified, he began his journey home again.
When he got home, his partner got into the car and drove back to the scene. There she met a man who took the fox down and put it in his car.
– She asked if he was from the game board, but he did not answer. She then followed with the car, and saw that he stopped at another animal that had been hung up. He also lifted that animal into the car, says Eilertsen.
According to Eilertsen, there are many children in the neighborhood in question. In addition, the school bus stops right by.
– In my eyes, this can create trauma for smaller children. Fortunately, my boy is too young to understand what it was.

TV 2 has been in contact with the animal rights organization Noah, who will look into the matter in more detail.
– When you see this type of disrespectful treatment of animals, you also have to ask yourself questions about how the animal has been treated as alive, says manager Siri Martinsen in Noah to TV 2.
– It is difficult for us to say whether this has been a breach of the Animal Welfare Act, but it is in any case clearly a disrespectful treatment of animals. We have to see if this is affected by any provisions, she adds.
