The Honda HR-V’s position in the compact SUV segment doesn’t seem very secure. The reason is that there are a number of newcomers who seem to be ‘trapping’ the pace of Honda’s flagship compact SUV.
The SUV market in Indonesia is heating up. Recently, a number of manufacturers have presented SUVs that are claimed to be suitable for the needs of the Indonesian people. Some of them launched a compact SUV that has been inhabited by the Honda HR-V.
For example, the Hyundai Creta, Chery Omoda 5, Wuling Alvez, and also the Suzuki Grand Vitara recently enlivened the compact SUV segment in Indonesia. Interestingly, the three models are sold with a tag of under IDR 400 million. This means that the price is cheaper than the two Honda HR-V variants presented in Indonesia.
The Hyundai Creta, for example, is sold at IDR 350 million to the most expensive IDR 408.3 million. With that price, the Hyundai Creta had surpassed the sales of the Honda HR-V for several months. However, when the new HR-V model was released, Creta was then overtaken again.
Continues Chery Omoda 5 offers two variants with the cheapest price of IDR 329.8 million to the highest IDR 399.8 million. Omoda 5 actually only fights with the Honda HR-V RS turbo because both carry a 1.5L turbo engine.
Then there is Wuling Alvez. The price of Wuling Alvez is arguably quite disturbing in the SUV segment. Not only the Honda HR-V, with selling prices starting at IDR 209 million to the most expensive IDR 299 million, there are several segments that Alvez has ‘nudged’.
The latest is the Suzuki Grand Vitara, which is also sold for less than Rp. 400 million. PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales announced that the cheapest Grand Vitara price is IDR 359.4 million.
Meanwhile, for the Honda HR-V, the cheapest price is Rp. 375.9 million, while the most expensive is Rp. 529.9 million. In more detail, here are the prices for the Honda HR-V SUV in Indonesia.
