Several cadres of a number of political parties entered the leadership structure of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) 2022-2027 period under Rais Aam Miftachul Akhyar and the Chairman of PBNU Yahya Cholil Staquf.
One of the things that caught the public’s attention was the inclusion of PDIP politician Mardani Maming as PBNU General Treasurer. Maming became a new name in the elite circle of PBNU.
Because, so far Maming is known as an entrepreneur by serving as Chairman of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (Hipmi). Not only that, Maming had served as the Regent of Tanah Bumbu, South Kalimantan for two periods 2010-2015 and 2016-2018.
Another PDIP politician who is a member of the PBNU ranks is Nasyirul Falah Amru. Nasyirul was given the mandate as one of the Chairpersons of the PBNU tanfidzyah. Nasyirul once joined the PBNU management for the 2015-2020 period as Treasurer.
Nasyirul is now listed as a member of the DPR RI PDIP fraction. He is also listed as General Secretary of the Central Board of Baitul Muslimin Indonesia (PP Bamusi), one of the PDIP wing organizations.
Then, veteran Golkar Party politician Nusron Wahid also rejoined the structure of the PBNU 2022-2027. Nusron now sits as Deputy General Chair. In the 2015-2021 PBNU management, Nusron served as one of the PBNU Chairs.
It did not stop there, the Deputy Governor of Central Java who is also a PPP cadre, Taj Yasin Maimoen was also included in the ranks of PBNU as a member of A’wan. Taj Yasin is the son of the charismatic NU cleric, the late Maimoen Zubair.
Taj Yasin has been known as a PPP cadre. Taj Yasin was even known to have intended to run as a candidate for the PPP chairman at the 2020 PPP congress.
Another PPP cadre currently in the ranks of PBNU is Mustofa Aqil Siradj. The younger brother of the former PBNU chairman, Said Aqil Siradj, received the mandate as PBNU’s Syrian Rais. Mostofa, who is also an NU cleric, is currently still serving as Chair of the 2019-2024 PPP DPP Sharia Council.
There is also a PKB politician, Dipo Nusantara Pua Upa is also included in the ranks of the PBNU Treasurer under the leadership of Yahya Staquf. Dipo is still listed as a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the PKB faction at this time. Dipo also briefly served as PBNU Treasurer in the previous period.
Not only that, the chairman of the PKB Syuro Council, Dimyati Rois, has also re-entered the ranks of the PBNU Mustasyar.
Yahya Staquf also acknowledged that the current management of PBNU also accommodates parties with certain political party backgrounds. He emphasized that this effort was an instrument of mutual control to keep NU at a distance from political interests.
“So that later management can control each other to keep the distance between NU and various political parties from each other,” Yahya said at the PBNU Office, Jakarta, Wednesday (12/1).
