A nice birthday present

For the girls, Loanne Guivarc’h, Aurélie Morizot and Fanny Chatelet gave a beautiful birthday present to their teammate Lou Lamarque, with undisputed leadership during this final A of the women’s lightweight couple.

They finished almost four seconds ahead of their first pursuers. This regatta weekend allowed to test different configurations: double on Saturday 11 and four on Sunday 12.

We’re definitely going faster than doubles, the sensations were better today, we knew that with a direct final it would be a one shot, they said.

A major result for the club

On the four rowers, the three teammates of Fanny Chatelet had been bronze medalists at the U23 world championships in Poznanen in 2018. Since then, the young rower of the CN Belbeuf ((Seine-Maritime) and originally from Quévreville-la-poterie knew how to make its place.

Joined by the editorial team, Yann Dirlaouen, vice-president of CN Belbeuf believes that this is a major result for the club:

This rewards the work of several years carried out by Philippe Mangot, trainer in post for seven years. We are a small rowing club with 80 licensees, which shows that even with our size, we can propel young people to this level. It’s not just the big machines that do it. With ups and downs, Fanny is a rower who has always fought, she can really savor this victory.

In the running for the world championships

The performance of Fanny Chatelet is added to that of April 14, where the young champion of the East plateau had finished in 9th position in 1x SFPL (individual boat in senior light weight girl) and had won 4th place in the S23 category (seniors under 23).

With this gold medal, Fanny Chatelet consolidates her place on the French under-23 team. This opens a big international door for him: that of the U23 world championships, a competition in which Fanny Chatelet will compete from July 24 to 28, 2019 in Sarasota in the United States.

Among the boys, Ferdinand Ludwig, Jules Tetaz, Paul Tixier and Arnaud Verger came out on top in their lightweight couple’s final four.
