Miguel Morán, Daniel Rodríguez, Dora Escobar, Andrea Rivas and Daniela Henríquez measured their respective progress on the second date of the 2024 National Championship, organized by the Salvadoran Rowing Federation in the waters of Lake Ilopango.
In that sense, in the first two-kilometer regatta, rower Miguel Morán, in senior men’s A lightweight, achieved a time of 7:56.40. For his part, Daniel Rodríguez, from the third senior men’s B lightweight category, finished with a time of 8:04.4 minutes.
While Dora Escobar, who also ran the two kilometers, representing the first senior women’s A lightweight category, achieved a time of 8:55.90 minutes.
Meanwhile, Andrea Rivas, who did a one-kilometer course in the junior A female category, finished with 9:56.0 min. In the fifth children’s category A, Daniela Henríquez’s participation, with a distance of one kilometer, finished with 5:50.6.
“We have been competing a lot, since last date we have not stopped every weekend and this regatta is just like the closing of that month and a half. I feel a little dissatisfied with the result because a couple of seconds went by, but it is also part of the process that sometimes happens and sometimes we are a little more loaded than normal, but always putting in the greatest effort,” said Morán.
For her part, Dora Escobar, who works as a police officer, and winner of two silver medals at the Mayagüez 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games and participated in the San Salvador 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games, considers that she surpassed her performance.
“We have been improving little by little but we are giving the times, we keep training hard because these are the results of seeing the improvement even a little. In the aspects to improve, I consider the exercise, and the strength to have a better result for the championship that will be held in November,” added Escobar.
Given the results of the second official regatta of the year, the federation coach Yuri Calderón explained that the test served to evaluate the athletes.
“It is the second national regatta, with which we are gradually evaluating the entire process of the year’s work, until reaching the national championship that will be held in November. This test serves to evaluate the technique and physical capacity of the athletes, also to measure the time difference between the athletes, who must do the shortest time possible,” Calderón pointed out.
