Rowers Holland Eight disappoint in final, gold for New Zealand | Tokyo Olympics

The rowers of the Holland Eight finished in a disappointing fifth place at the Tokyo Olympics. The showpiece of the Dutch rowing fleet did not compete for the medals in the final on the Sea Forest Waterway.

The boat was fifth from the start and during the 2 kilometer race the team was unable to improve that position. The gold went to New Zealand, the silver to Germany and the bronze to Great Britain.

The Dutch eight included Bjorn van den Ende (bow), Ruben Knab, Jasper Tissen, Simon van Dorp, Maarten Hurkmans, Bram Schwarz, Mechiel Versluis and Robert Lücken (stroke). Eline Berger was the helmsman.
