Ria hasn’t slept a wink for several years because of the extreme parties of her neighbor. Every weekend it goes on until the late hours, all in the backyard of a terraced house. “As soon as I hear the mopeds and cars coming in the evening I think: the misery starts again. It’s ball again”, Ria tells her story.
According to Ria, sometimes twenty people pass by, who are sometimes even dropped off with taxis. “Sometimes I only sleep four… five hours a night, that’s the maximum. And when there are parties, I hardly sleep at all,” she says. According to Ria, there is no conversation with her neighbor and he is only harassing her. “I wonder if he’s all right.”

In addition to the noise, Ria is also bothered by glasses being thrown over the fence and she thinks she has been hacked by her neighbors. “I sent a complaint to the housing association about the nuisance and parties from the neighbours, and the moment I typed and emailed it, a warning came with a different email address,” she explains. But that’s not the worst for Ria: her husband was so mad from all the nuisance that he decided to leave her after 30 years. “He couldn’t take it anymore”, she tells her story in tears.
The boy next door, Robbie, admits that he has thrown parties in the past, but he has long since stopped throwing them. Moreover, nowadays it is no longer possible to drink a beer in the backyard, because then the neighbor is already screaming from the bedroom window. And that puts a lot of pressure on the atmosphere during an evening of fun. “Actually, no one is bothered by us, except one person,” he says. Yet Ria has the feeling that she is in the middle of a nightclub and there is no longer a party atmosphere. So it’s high time that Mr. Visser is going to restore the peace in the tent once and for all.

The quarrel has been going on for years and has a major impact on Ria’s life. Emotions run high during the hearing. Though Ria insists she was hacked by her neighbor, an expert says she hasn’t. She ‘just’ suffers from spam. Master Visser therefore does not blame Robbie, but forbids him to use the backyard after sunset – with the exception of five parties a year, announced with a note.
Because Ria has admitted that she deliberately makes noise to harass her neighbor, Master Visser has also drawn up a number of rules. Anyone who does not comply with this must pay a fine of 100 euros per violation, with a maximum of 500 euros.
