Today a decisive and non-stop three days for the Giro d’Italia 2021 begins. The Corsa Rosa is about to end, with the nineteenth stage scheduled, the Abbiategrasso-Alpe di Mera / Valsesia, 166 kilometers long. ROUTE STAGE OF TODAY ABBIATEGRASSO-ALPE DI MERA
It will be a mountain stage with three ascents interspersed with long stretches on a slight slope. It will cover the plain around the Ticino until Orta San Giulio, which will enter towards the fourth category GPM of 13 kilometers in the locality Gignese-Alpe Agogna at km 83 (this ascent will replace the Mottarone GPM after the cancellation of the latter in respect of the 14 victims of the collapse of the cable car on Sunday 23).
There will therefore be one really challenging descent to Stresa, where you will skirt the Lake Maggiore passing through Baveno (km 107,6) first flying finish line of the day, and from here they will then reach each other Gravellona Toce e Omegna to climb the Colma Pass (km 137.4). It will then come down on Varallo, and then gently climb up to Scopetta (km 161,6), second flying finish line of the day, from where the final climb will start. The Alpe di Mera is a first class GPM of 9.7 kilometers at 9% with peaks of 14% three kilometers from the finish, characterized by numerous hairpin bends.
