In his message to the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Rouhani initially expressed his condolences to the Turkish government and people for this disaster. He then expressed his readiness to send aid, including medical assistance to the people in Izmir.
“The earthquake in Izmir that killed and injured many loved ones in the region deeply hurts us,” Rouhani told Erdogan, as reported by Anadolu Agency on Sunday (1/11/2020).
“Iran declares its readiness to send all kinds of aid and medical assistance as well as assistance to people in earthquake-stricken areas,” the Iranian leader continued.
A number of Iranian officials say the Iranian Red Crescent Society Unit (IRCS) in Tehran, East Azerbaijan, West Azerbaijan, Ardebil and Kurdistan has been called for alert. (Also read: Miraculous, Mother and Her Three Children Survived 18 Hours Bursted with Debris)
Meanwhile, it was previously reported that a mother and her three children were rescued after being pulled out of the rubble of the collapsed building. They had been trapped under the rubble for nearly 18 hours.
