Since the end of September, the inhabitants of Rouen have been able to admire astonishing gilding on the roof of their cathedral. If many were surprised, this is not a whim of restorers but a restitution of the gilding that existed in the 15th century! Destroyed by lightning which set the roof on fire in 1822, this gilding had never been redone. 200 years later, they are visible again. Up there, Saint George, rearing up on his horse, proudly crushes the dragon at his feet. A brilliant victory!
