Rotterdammer shows firearms on Facebook and is arrested

The police in Rotterdam have arrested a man who showed a handgun to his followers in a livestream on Facebook last night. A shot could also be heard.

The police watched and at the beginning of the night a raid followed in the home of the 37-year-old Rotterdammer, an acquaintance of the police. The firearm was not found, but two bullet casings. The man was arrested for violating the Weapons and Ammunition Act and detained for questioning.

Tip money

The Public Prosecution Service in Rotterdam pays for tips on the possession of firearms. This can amount to 750 euros per tip, depending on the type of weapon found. The scheme was created last year as a means of reducing the number of firearms incidents.

It is not known whether the police received a tip in this case.
