While players looking to catch Rotom in Pokémon Go don’t have to mess with a haunted TV, there are still some specific things they need to know to catch this Electric/Ghost-type Pokémon.

Now that Rotom’s base form finally debuts in the Los Angeles portion of the Sinnoh Tour 2024 event, let’s explain how to catch this tricky ghost.
How to catch Rotom in Pokémon Go
Currently, the only way to find Rotom in Pokémon Go is by completing the Global Unlock: Ghost Special Quest on the machine. This event is part of the Los Angeles portion of the Sinnoh Tour 2024 event.
Specifically, trainers attending the Los Angeles portion of the event worked together to discover a code that would unlock the Ghost in the Machine special research mission.

The search code is 0HY0UF0UNDM3.
Fortunately, this special research is available worldwide to all players, but only for a limited time. Trainers can complete this quest from February 16, 2024 to February 25, 2024. Completing the quest will earn you an encounter with Rotom.
Can Rotom be shiny?
Although Rotom availability remains limited, yes, you can catch a Shiny Rotom in Pokémon Go. Trainers will have to be very lucky to make their Rotom Shiny, but it is possible.
It’s important to note that while you can shapeshift in the main Pokemon games, this is not yet possible in Pokemon Go. Additionally, starting in February 2024, only standard Wash, Mow, Frost, and Rotom will be catchable.
