Rothen is tough on Messi, Neymar and Leonardo

Former France international Jerome Rothen scored a hard score with PSG after Paris Saint-Germain were eliminated by Real Madrid in the Champions League round of 16.

“They’re both irresponsible and mercenaries,” Rothen said RMC Sport on Neymar and Lionel Messi: “They are responsible for this defeat.”

The 43-year-old has called Messi’s performances “a cheat” since he joined Paris from FC Barcelona in the summer. “I’m ashamed to speak about Messi like that, but it’s the truth, the guy is walking around the pitch,” said Rothen.

His settlement with Neymar was no less violent. “The other lost all his balls. I say the other because it bothers me a lot to say his name. Since he’s been at PSG he’s been a joke.”

Only Kylian Mbappe was dangerous in both games against Real, said Rothen, who wore the PSG jersey from 2004 to 2010.

Rothen: “Leonardo is a disaster”

Rothen is also extremely critical of the work of sports director Leonardo.

“Which player best represents the character at PSG today? Which player do you identify with?” he asked, clarifying: “I want this sporting director to go once and for all! He has no business here! For three years it’s a disaster!”

PSG lost 3-1 on Wednesday after a 1-0 win at their own stadium in Madrid and thus once again fell short of their goal of winning the Champions League.
