The German drugstore chain Rossmann announces that it has decided against purchasing any more Tesla vehicles for its fleet. The main reason for this is the incompatibility between Elon Musk’s political stance and Tesla’s corporate mission, as «Stern» reports.

Raoul Rossmann, spokesman for the management of Rossmann, places Elon Musk’s commitment to former US President Donald Trump, who has repeatedly described climate change as a hoax, in clear contrast to Tesla’s corporate goal.

Ultimately, Teslas as electric cars are intended to help reduce exhaust emissions in order to stop climate change.

Only a fraction of Rossmann’s fleet consists of Teslas

Rossmann’s fleet currently includes around 800 vehicles, of which only 34 are Teslas. However, the company does not want to replace the existing Teslas.

For future purchases, however, Tesla will only use “alternative manufacturers and models.” Rossmann did not mention the financial damage this would cause Tesla.

Tesla fans turn away from Musk

Elon Musk’s behavior is not only being criticized by companies. Fans and customers are also beginning to avoid Musk because of his political stance and questionable statements. This could have disastrous consequences for Tesla, especially since their products are generally viewed as reliable and everyday vehicles. Elon Musk was a positive face for the company – but now his fame seems to be having negative effects.

Most recently, Tesla reported a 45 percent drop in profits for the second quarter of 2024, despite revenue of $25.5 billion and net profit of $1.48 billion, according to Stern. This led to dissatisfaction among the company’s shareholders.

CEO Musk tried to calm the situation and addressed the public with the prospect of future projects. His plan: in the future, money will be earned from autonomous vehicles and humanoid robots, not from vehicles for end users.
