Rossi on pole at Road America

On the most beautiful road circuit of the American calendar, Alexander Rossi (Andretti) recalled the good memories of all…

By signing his first pole position since 2019, the former Formula 1 driver (five Grands Prix for Manor in 2015) can consider returning to victory which has also shunned him for the past three years.

Having just signed a multi-year contract with McLaren, Rossi seems liberated and has dominated his teammates from the Andretti Autosport team in recent weeks with a fifth place in the Indy 500 and a first runners-up finish on the heels of the winner last Sunday in Detroit.

On the Road America grid tonight (starting at 6:40 p.m., to be followed live on Canal + Sport), Rossi will share the front row with Joseph Newgarden’s Penske, the second row being occupied by Ganassi drivers Alex Palou and Marcus Ericsson.

Also qualified in the “Fast Six”, Colton Herta (Andretti) and Pato O’Ward (McLaren) will start from the third row just ahead of Romain Grosjean who considers this superb track as “America’s Spa” and which will try to recover after two difficult races.

Less in style in qualifying but nevertheless well placed in ambush, Simon Pagenaud (MSR) will start in eleventh position on the grid ahead of the best rookie Callum Ilott (Juncos Hollinger), back after his accident in Indianapolis.

Note the poor performance of championship leader Will Power (Penske), only fifteenth, and the presence at the back of the grid of the returning Simona de Silvestro (Paretta Autosport).
