Rospotrebnadzor warns of impending increase in influenza and ARVI incidence after New Year holidays

An increase in incidence is expected after the New Year holidays

Rospotrebnadzor warned Russians about an upcoming increase in the incidence of influenza and ARVI, reports rg.ru. According to WHO, 290-650 thousand people die from influenza every year in the world, so the disease should not be underestimated. Flu is especially dangerous for children. Infectious disease specialist Alexander Dmitriev said that children are at risk during the spread of influenza.

“For children, influenza is especially dangerous given the immaturity of their immune system. Children are more susceptible to influenza and are more likely to develop complications such as pneumonia, sinusitis, and otitis media. The rapid development of such severe conditions is also associated with the imperfection of the immune system,” the doctor noted.

Dmitriev advises vaccinating children against influenza before the start of the winter season. You need to be examined regularly. A balanced diet and balance of sleep and exercise play an important role in the functioning of the child’s immune system. If symptoms of flu and ARVI appear, you should immediately contact a specialist.
