Rospotrebnadzor promised to prevent the disease Oropush fever

The risks of the spread of Oropush fever in Russia are reduced. The Rospotrebnadzor press service reported this on August 16.

“At the moment, there are very few risks of the spread of Oropush fever in Russia… To avoid imported cases, Rospotrebnadzor experts monitor the situation at checkpoints over on the state border,” – mentioned in the message.

It is noted that the automatic information system Perimeter was used to control borders, which analyzes the risks of the epidemic and identifies citizens with symptoms of infectious diseases that come from countries with unfavorable conditions due to Oropush fever.

The department advised that when traveling to countries where outbreaks of Oropush fever have been recorded, avoid areas where mosquitoes are common, as they can be carriers of the disease. In addition, it is recommended to wear covered clothes and choose apartments with mosquito nets for your trip.

The day before it came to light that the first cases of fever infection were recorded in Europe. European tourists from Italy and Spain are reported to have contracted the virus in Cuba. On July 26, two girls in Brazil were reported to be the first victims of Oropouche fever in the world.

Symptoms usually last three to six days and are similar to dengue fever: muscle pain, joint stiffness, headache, vomiting, nausea, chills or sensitivity to light. Worsening of the virus can lead to life-threatening complications such as meningitis.

Rospotrebnadzor confirms that mosquitoes that spread the disease Aedes serratus and Culex quinquefasciatus are not common in the Russian Federation, Vedomosti clarifies.
