B-230 Cali, September 2, 2023.

Ms. Rosita Solís Grueso was ratified as the representative of the black communities of Valle del Cauca on the CVC Board of Directors.

Solís Grueso was elected in the middle of a democratic process in which the legal representatives of 39 community councils of black communities participated, which registered in a timely manner and fulfilled the legal requirements to carry out the process.

“I want to thank the legal representatives of the community councils that participated in this election who, unanimously, have elected me again to represent them before the board of directors. I feel very calm and I say it with great humility, because I believe that it is for the work that I have done on inclusion, with the administration, the board of directors, the director Marco Antonio and the entire CVC team and my orientations. In the Corporation, all the community councils of the black communities are served without distinction as to who voted for me and who doesn’t”, assured the counselor.

“To the black communities and councils that could not attend because they did not meet the requirements, I inform you: they are counting on me and the CVC so that, within the framework of their rights, they can be respected and that the Corporation treats them as they deserve”, added.

As a substitute, María Aida Manyoma Salazar, legal representative of the Community Council of Black Communities of Cuellar, was elected.

“Very happy. It is a representation of democracy, of how things are done in Valle del Cauca, in harmony and always looking for the sustainable development of the department and to do things well in the Corporation as we have always done,” he expressed for Marco Antonio Suárez Gutiérrez, general director of the CVC.

Suárez Gutiérrez highlighted the good relationship of the CVC with these communities. “We built our Action Plan with them, I remember starting 2020, when we met in Buenaventura with all the community councils, establishing how the Corporation’s investment with them would be. Today the result is seen, we are the Corporation that more invests in the black communities in Colombia and the results of all that investment have been seen and today they, autonomously, have once again elected their representatives”.

The day ended with songs and declamations by the representatives of the community councils who thus celebrated the successful development of the process.
