Victory for Liofilchem Roseto who conquered the Palasport of Cisterna di Latina against the home team of Benacquista at the end of an exhausting battle which only ended in the final stages. Two points that allow coach Gramenzi’s team to climb to 20 points, still firmly in command of the standings, at +4 on second place Ruvo di Puglia, blocked at home by Rieti.
Without Donadoni and with Traini kept on the bench as a precaution for the entire match, a test of strength made up of a lot of heart and head, against a team that is sailing in the bottom of the league but which played a super match (without Baldasso among other things). A tight match throughout its duration but won by the biancazzurri thanks to a heavy break at the end by Dellosto, Sacchetti and a practically perfect defense despite the many foul problems already at half-time.
Yet another important offensive match: 20/35 two-point shooting, 18 team assists and 104 overall rating despite the absence of two players. Five men scored in double figures at the end of the match: 18 by captain Sacchetti, 9/9 in free throws, 7 rebounds, 26 in rating and the triple from the overtaking with three to go, 17 for a super Dellosto with 3 triples scored score, 12 points, 5 assists for Durante, Tsetserukou scores 11 while there are 10 for Edo Tiberti.
Latina starts off strong straight away, 10-0 after just 3 minutes with a consequent time-out for Gramenzi: Roseto returns well to the field, tied at 12 with Tsetserukou and Guaiana, with the first advantage bearing the signature of the Belarusian centre: l Dellosto’s entry shakes up Liofilchem, with Sacchetti scoring to make it 21-23 before Guastamacchia blocks the score on perfect parity at the end of the period. The second half opens with 5 points in a row from Dellosto, then Tiberti scores from below, in the 15th minute the scoreboard reads 30-34. Dellosto is on fire, but on the other side Ambrosetti together with Mennella begins to hammer from beyond the arc: Ambrosetti for 42-41, then Tsetserukou and a triple from Durante close the quarter at 44-47.
The third period is that of the first points for Aukstikalnis, kept on the bench due to foul problems, but Latina is there and scores a tremendous break of 17-9 with Mennella on top, well supported by Guastamacchia and Rossi. The last ten minutes are very intense and the hosts really believe in it and make the shot of the day: Paci with 4 in a row scores the maximum advantage at 69-60, Roseto doesn’t fit and replaces a counter break with Aukstikalnis and Sacchetti. 74-68 in the 35th minute, from here on Liofilchem comes out with a defense that concedes crumbs and in attack Sacchetti and Dellosto do everything else for two fundamental points for the rest of the season.
But not even time to celebrate because on Thursday evening (14 November) we’ll be back on the pitch straight away: appointment at 8.45pm at the PalaMaggetti against Umana San Giobbe Chiusi.
