This week we learned of the decision by the Prosecutor’s Office to close the investigation into the fire caused by a tear gas canister that destroyed the Alameda Art Center on December 27, 2019. We are frustrated and disappointed, since although convincing evidence was presented with images, testimonies from neighbors, an exhaustive DICTUC report and audiovisual records, justice did not do its thing.
Although it surprises and worries us, we will continue forward, as a cultural agent with more than 30 years of experience that Week after week, it offers audiences activities with an avant-garde cinematic listing.daring, dissident and innovative.
Over the years we have made a difference, positioning ourselves as a necessary platform for emerging and established artists, working with social issues that were previously taboo and always providing a space to make them visible.
We are currently located in CEINA (Extension Center of the National Institute), a renewed architectural project, which we were able to equip with top quality technology. This has allowed us to maintain the magnificent reception from the public, which has valued it very positively. our face-to-face meeting in the room, a space where we can laugh contagiously or hug each other after a show. Similarly, our online platform centrartealameda.tv maintains the classic curatorship in the selection of the best content and being accessible from all corners of Chile.
Our connection with the territory and the educational environment has been encouraging. We have met students who for the first time can get together with their classmates to share a movie and viewers who waited two years to see a feature film on the big screen. We have received the affection of those who knew us since before the fire and also of those who reward us with their assistance to this day.
And with the same strength as always and looking to the future, we will continue to host film festivals Sanfic, Fidocs is uniquepresenting premieres of essential national and international films and also proposing special functions linked to reflection on the valuable constitutional process.
We will remain committed to our mission for the necessary development of new audiences and bringing culture closer to all people.
