“If there is a majority for a government, then Borisov is prime minister, and the parliamentary post can be for any one of our partners.” This was stated in the program “120 minutes” on bTV by Rosen Zhelyazkov from GERB. He was adamant that the party would not support another party’s candidate for Speaker of the National Assembly.
“The opinion of the party is to support the current speaker of the parliament, Raya Nazaryan,” he explained.
According to him, Boyko Borisov is the natural choice of GERB for prime minister.
“Without negotiations and talks, we will not leave the feeling that we are giving ultimatums. Borisov hastened to declare that he is ready to step down, but I think the party is not inclined to back down from its understanding of leadership at this moment,” he said Zhelyazkov.
“I think that everyone is talking to everyone, but not dialogically, but through the media. We were ready and stated that the day after the election we should start talking about how to proceed with the PP-DB. Unfortunately, on the night of the election we received a condition that sent us to now comment on whether it is possible for this National Assembly to start work”, he also commented.
According to him, if the parliament does not start sitting, it cannot implement any of the constitutionally provided steps. “We will once again be people who will supposedly go to work, but will not work”.
“Back in the election campaign, we clearly stated that with the PP-DB we must formulate the core of a coalition agreement and if we do not have enough votes, we will determine the third partner. We will not sign conditions, but only a coalition agreement for governance,” explained Zhelyazkov .
According to him, to change the electoral code at the moment will garner huge criticism if the country goes to the polls again in a few months.
“We will support all reasonable texts that will enable the elections to be fairer,” he specified.
According to him, there is a feeling in society that “power is beginning to roll in the streets”.
According to Rosen Zhelyazkov, the riots in front of the National Theater were something like a dress rehearsal for tomorrow, when there will be 7 protests in Sofia during the swearing-in of the deputies.
“I expect riots and a rise in public tension tomorrow,” Rosen Zhelyazkov said gloomily.
