Roscosmos has shown satellite PHOTOS of the giant crack in Turkey after the earthquake

The photo was posted on Sunday on the official Telegram channel of Russia’s Federal Space Agency

Roscosmos released a satellite image of a tectonic fault caused by the powerful earthquake on February 6 in Turkey. The photo was published on Sunday in the official Telegram channel of the state corporation, the news agencies reported.

“Roscosmos continues space monitoring of the consequences of the earthquake in the southeastern part of Turkey,” reads the caption of the image from the Canopus-V satellite. For comparison, a photo from the Russian satellite “Resurs-P” taken in July 2021 is attached to the publication.

On February 7, Roscosmos announced the use of all available forces and means of Russia’s satellite group for remote monitoring of the Earth to monitor the situation.

We recall that on February 11, Habertürk TV channel reported the formation of a giant tectonic fault with a length of 200 m and a depth of 30 m in the province of Hatay in southeastern Turkey. Then a crack with a depth of about 30 meters and a width of up to 200 meters was discovered in an olive field.

The Maxar satellites registered a “breakthrough” in the ground with an elevation of several hundred meters near the Turkish city of Nurdagi. Roscosmos also published satellite photos of Hatay airport – before and after the earthquake.
