Rosatom plans to launch a gigafactory near the Neman by the fall of 2025, which will initially be able to produce batteries for about 50,000 electric vehicles a year. The state corporation proposes to give subsidies to car factories for the purchase of domestic batteries. Writes about it “Kommersant” on Monday. February 20th.
The measure is designed to reduce the price of electric vehicles and increase demand for them. The subsidy is recommended to be introduced for three years, until Russia launches its own production of battery components.
For the development of public electric transport, Rosatom proposes to use life cycle contracts for batteries.
“The essence of the proposal is to purchase batteries as a “service” by urban electric transport services and pay for the actual operation of the battery, that is, only for kilowatt-hours of electricity consumed,” TVEL explains.
Significant savings will allow the fleet to be upgraded and purchased more vehicles, while the owners will not need to spend money on battery disposal or repair.
