After winning Miss World in 2003, Rosanna Davison became a household name in Ireland. However, 20 years later, the model and former Miss World has entered a new chapter of her life as a mother of three.
Davison’s journey to motherhood was not an easy one. After suffering multiple miscarriages, she felt that her body was “broken”. In an interview with The Independent, she reflects on her despair at feeling like she couldn’t do what her body was designed to do – have a baby.
However, Davison was determined to become a mother, and with the help of fertility treatment and a surrogate, she was able to welcome her twin boys Hugo and Oscar in 2020. She also became a mother to daughter Sophia through a Ukrainian surrogate in 2019.
Davison has spoken publicly about her struggles with infertility in the hopes of breaking the taboo surrounding the topic and to let other women know that they’re not alone. She believes that more needs to be done to support women going through fertility treatment, particularly in terms of mental health support.
Aside from motherhood, Davison also opens up about her experience in the Noughties’ lads’ mag culture, which she describes as “grim”. She talks about the pressure to conform to certain beauty standards and how she felt objectified at times.
Despite the challenges she faced, Davison is now in a happy place, enjoying life as a mother and giving her children the best possible start in life. She also takes joy in the fact that she was able to give their daughter’s Ukrainian surrogate a safe haven from her war-torn country.
Davison’s story serves as a reminder that life is full of ups and downs, but with perseverance and determination, one can overcome the toughest of challenges. She is a shining example of strength and resilience, and we hope to see her continue to flourish in her personal and professional life.
