Rosa Boomsma wins Stars on the Canvas with painting by Eva Jinek: ‘It is such an honor’

The Tilburg artist Rosa Boomsma won the TV program Sterren op het Doek on Saturday evening with her painting by Eva Jinek.

The American-Dutch talk show host was allowed to choose from three works of art, which was clearly not easy for her. But she chose Rosa’s work and she was happy with it. “I think it’s such an honor. I’ve been following the program for years. When it ended in 2015, a dream almost fell apart, because now I could no longer participate.”

That has now been amply made up for, because Omroep Max breathed new life into the program and the editors asked Rosa to participate. “Actually I was supposed to cooperate last year, but then I was heavily pregnant and couldn’t continue. Secretly I am happy, because now I was allowed to paint Eva Jinek!”

The painting is already hanging
Not only is it pleasant to paint a beautiful woman, but Jinek also stood out for her spontaneity. “She is very open, fun, ambitious and smart. It was very special to meet her. I had already received a picture from her that she has hung the painting and this afternoon I got a message from her.

It was a special episode of Sterren op het Doek. Not only Rosa’s painting was appreciated, her other two works were also well received. “She found it really difficult to choose, all three were good. This is also evident from the fact that the other two paintings were auctioned for record amounts.”

Artist in the Rijksmuseum
The broadcast was Saturday evening, the reactions have been pouring in at the born Tilburg in recent hours. “Only nice reactions, private from people, but also via Twitter. Really, so nice.”

Rosa works as an artist in daily life. “I followed an economic education, but at some point I started painting.” That brought her into the art program, where she was allowed to stand with her work in the final in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam and eventually won.

There is a good chance that participating in Sterren op het Doek will do her no harm. “The first people interested in a portrait have already registered. That is very nice.”
