In summer weather, the European Championship in Trentino, Italy continued with an individual race. Women’s elites, as well as men’s and women’s U23 athletes competed on the 22.4-kilometer fast and dynamic track. Among the participants are also two Latvian athletes.

Dana Rožlapa was one of 33 cyclists in the solo race of the women’s elite group. Dana went on the track as 14. During the distance, the Latvian athlete demonstrated a recognizable performance, actually fighting for the place in the top ten. The student of coach Jānis Mūsiņš, for whom this is one of the two most important individual rides this year, both had to face a bicycle defect. A chain of Dan’s bicycle fell on one of the sections of the track. Until the problem was fixed, I had to lose such precious seconds, which were especially painful at such dense results.

Rožlapa reached the finish line after 30 minutes and 15 seconds on the track. The winner was the Swiss Marlene Roiser, who lasted 27 minutes and 12 seconds. Silver for Elena van Dijka from the Netherlands and bronze for Lisa Lena Brenauer.
