A rooster was found in a hotel room in Rotterdam yesterday. The guest had already checked out and because the animal ambulance does not transport poultry, the police were called.

The police took the animal to the Zwerfkip & Zo shelter in Boskoop. It is a young white rooster of four to five months old that is very tame, reports a shelter employee Rijnmond. She says she has never experienced anything like this before.

“I also don’t understand why someone dumps him in a hotel room. That is of course no place for a rooster.”

According to the shelter, the police had taken good care of the animal and bought oat flakes for him. The rooster is in quarantine for a week to rule out that the animal is sick. “He does look healthy and fit,” says the employee. “If all goes well we can place him with other animals.”
