Discovering the hanging garden of the Public Hotel
The Public Hotel, on the Lower East Side, is one of the finest creations of Ian Schrager, the inventor of the concept of boutique hotels. With its 360 degree view from the verdant planted terrace, the roof bar lives up to its reputation. Cocktails, snacks and DJs are at the top, but we come especially for the fauna of golden boys and it girls on their 31.
Chic dress code required in the evening.
Our advice: to avoid queues, prefer the end of the afternoon.

Take in the sights with a trip to the ModernHaus
After a shopping spree in Soho, we gladly come to beach in this trendy spot, at 18e floor of the new ModernHaus hotel. Not to jump into the swimming pool, reserved for hotel guests, but to take advantage of the heights with a view of downtown that suffers from no obstruction.
The cocktails are expensive ($20 to $50) but inventive and updated every month, such as the Peachy Bourbon Bliss in April.
