Roof sagging roofs Heesch not properly fixed, residents not yet home

The fastening construction of the roof on seven homes in Heesch in North Brabant was inadequate. That is the conclusion of a constructor of the Netherlands Environmental Agency after an inspection today, the municipality of Bernheze says.

Last Saturday the roof of seven houses on the Biezenloop in Heesch subsided. The residents had to leave their homes head over heels on the advice of an expert. They cannot go back for the time being.

The block has been cordoned off, and there are fences around it. It is unclear what caused the roofs to collapse on Saturday. More research is needed for this.

No immediate danger

The roof construction is not part of the main supporting construction of the houses. The subsidence does not pose any direct danger to the building construction as a whole.

But collapsing can cause parts of the roof to end up next to the houses. According to the municipality, that makes it too dangerous to live there again, writes Broadcasting Brabant.

Hinge cover

It concerns roofs with a so-called hinge cover. The roofs are delivered folded and unfolded on the house, before being secured to the floor.

The contractor who built the houses does not want to discuss the possible cause of the subsidence. He is awaiting further investigation.
